Superintendent: George Graham

George Graham is from Alabama.  He attended The University of Alabama where he ran track / cross country and came away with a business degree.  The next few years were spent in the US Army.  Part of his time in the service was spent with an airborne battalion in Italy.  It was there that he met his future wife as she was travelling with friends (she’s not Italian).  LeAnn and George married a few years later, He stayed in the National Guard, went back to college and got my degree in elementary education.  LeAnn and George moved to Roseburg in 1988, he joined the Army Reserves and started teaching elementary school at Sunnyslope.  Thirty-two years later (sure went by fast), George just retired from Roseburg Public Schools.

"LeAnn and I have four grown boys, all who graduated from UVC.  LeAnn taught at UVC for 15 years,  and I served the school in a variety of capacities (school board, basketball coach, soccer coach).

God has “filled my tool chest” with multiple experiences that have me feeling confident about leading UVC.  With Him as my guide, and by surrounding myself with a wonderful staff and capable school board, I look forward to what He has planned."

Pre-school: Cherie McKirdy Smith

God has called me and the wonder of it all is He still calls me! I was 7 years old when I felt the presence of His love and wanted to be in His family. The years have been full, wonderful and wearisome too! He has carried me through and I have no doubt He will continue to do so. I am a very imperfect human, needing and desiring His perfect love. Thankful that His love and restoration never runs dry...

I was born number 9 of 10 children. My mom, however through me a curve ball when she said that there were 4 that didn't make it.... So, what number am I? I think she was referring to those that didn't make it to full term. She counted even them. I love that about her! My mom and dad were very humble and kind people. Not church goers, but my mom had been all her growing up years. Dad achieved an 8th grade education, became the man of the house working the ranch with his uncle after his father’s death, served in the navy while my mom finished high school and was a natural inventor. He loved to figure out how things worked. His family ranch was no longer his responsibility and he became a logger who owned his own truck for a while. We moved a lot!

I was the only child to receive a Bachelor of Science and then a Master of Arts! I soon realized that what I really missed was the application part of the puzzle and my love of children. I love applying what I learn! I love seeing how God moves me and my heart too! In my maturing, I realize that we fail each other but that God can and will fill in those gaps. He makes things that go wrong, right again. My favorite - Romans 8:28, And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

I am currently blessed with the most beautiful, never dared to long for, little girl. She is perfectly made in His wonderous image. I am in awe of this precious gift He has given me and her daddy to guide toward Him.
