Peter Shaffer

Mr.Shaffer is Umpqua Valley Christian Schools’ Middle School History and Bible teacher. His favorite part of his job is getting to see God work. He attended the University of California to receive his BA, San Diego State University to get a linguistics ESL certificate and then New Mexico State University to receive his Masters. Before working at UVC, Mr.Shaffer was an educator and missionary and has worked with non-profits. They were most recently in Missoula MT where he taught for three years. Before that, they worked with a non-profit that the Lord gave them, both in the border region (New Mexico, Texas, Juarez in Chihuahua), and internationally in Chile, Canada, and Kenya. He has also taught English as a Second Language to adults in the US and abroad and has worked in construction.

Mr.Shaffer and his family have lived a missionary lifestyle for many years now. They attend Garden Valley Español and himself, his wife, and two sons enjoy watching what Jesus does in people’s lives and talking about how they see Jesus moving. While living in Egypt, he learned how to scuba-dive in the Red Sea and growing up would spend lots of time looking at maps of different parts of the world. Mr.Shaffer also enjoys building, gardening, and spending time with family and brothers and sisters in Christ.
